Einstein was here...

"The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it."

Sue is the largest, most complete, and best preserved Tyrannosaurus rex. She was discovered by fossil hunter Sue Hendrickson in 1990, near Faith, South Dakota.

Snowfall in Chicago !!! Since Friday a wave of cold air hit the area and temperuatures dropped below zero ! Yesterday we took the train from West Chicago to downtown Chicago and decided to visit the Field Museum to see Sue, the world's largest, most complete and best preserved T-Rex skeleton.

In the evening we had dinner at Mambo Grill
, a nice little latin restaurant with decent prices and delicious food. They have a large selection of tequilas and play latin music, not life though. Just a few corners north is a the blues bar "Blue Chicago" where a very good blues band with a black vocalist played R&B and blues. A place definitively worth going ! Entrance price is $10, which gives you access to the second club just a few blocks further north.
Beer prices are around $4-5. Come early to get a seat...

more to come soon....

Big John

Chicago skyline seen from Navy Pier Posted by Hello

NuMI poster

Visit of NuMI beam line and MINOS experiment

Access doors are quite small here...Had I opened this one, basically the whole accelerator chain would have tripped ! There's only the handle...NO KEY necessary !
This door's called the "hobbit door".
The door separates the Main Injector from the NuMI transfer tunnel which transports proton beam onto a target to produce neutrinos for a short and long baseline neutrino experiment, similar to CNGS. Quadrupoles are orange and dipoles are blue here.
The little box I hold in my left hand is a breathing apparatus which provides O2 for about 20min., similar to our Biocells.

Our first trip to Windy City

View from the Sears Tower (103rd floor) towards the North. The black building is Big John. Had a Pina Colada and Margarita in the Signature Lounge located in 96th floor of Big John with stunning views of the city. Posted by Hello

our house and car @ Fermilab Posted by Hello

Greetings from Fermilab !

We arrived yesterday here at Fermilab and got all we need, a roof over our heads and a car to move around. The site's pretty big compared to CERN and doesn't contain lots of buildings, mainly grassland, trees and some forests. Good possibilities for jogging, all flat. Today we had our first run from the house to the High Rise and back. Shopping facilities are a bit away. The Fermilab village where the house is situated is calm and peaceful. It seems that not all places are occupied yet.
