Visit of NuMI beam line and MINOS experiment

Access doors are quite small here...Had I opened this one, basically the whole accelerator chain would have tripped ! There's only the handle...NO KEY necessary !
This door's called the "hobbit door".
The door separates the Main Injector from the NuMI transfer tunnel which transports proton beam onto a target to produce neutrinos for a short and long baseline neutrino experiment, similar to CNGS. Quadrupoles are orange and dipoles are blue here.
The little box I hold in my left hand is a breathing apparatus which provides O2 for about 20min., similar to our Biocells.
