After 9:00 meeting, Tevatron experts was investigated an injection problem occured by a Trim Magnet. Next shoot, this will be solved.

SSW @ Fermilab

We are not in SM18 but at Fermilab, and tools are almost same,
it is normal because Stretch Wire has been provided by Fermilab.
It give us a "Nostalgie" of Sm18 work.

Sm18 in fermilab...

The study of new cable with high feld has already started :

Wonderful fixed display tool!!

After discussing a little bit with Control people here we just discovered a very user friendly and useful tool called here Synoptic displays.

It is a very simple feature allwing to log and monitor any device (even JAPC!) and display it on a SVG graphic (visible from firefox). On top is a sample we configured in less than 2 minutes. (plotting outside temperature converted in °C)

Here is the URL for Synoptic builder which looks a lot like Labview and is very intuitive to ue and build a new fixed display in a snap.
Have a try (unfortunately you would not be abble to save the changes you made, but it is still worth a try).

2 frenchies and 1 belgian in the MCR.

We start to be friendly with operators.

Visite du Tevatron.

After completed the security training, we have all authorisation to access the machine, we are lucky because today there were a technical stop.

Keep control.

The sound if something goes wrong is here.
Tomorrow will be an access day for us.
We enjoy to go in the machine and have a general view of the tevatron.

New Idea for SIS?

As heard in MCR, some of you might be abble to recognize that specific sound telling an interlock was triggered.

And if you are looking for some new ideas, you can also have a look there.

Calcul center

Slightly different from our 513 building, this one has a "Je ne sais quoi" more appealing....

Any idea?

Thursday news

Well... Excuse the title but I did not know what to put up there.

So we are almost set with all safety trainings, we should be abble to access machines when possible from tomorrow afternoon.

The weather got a bit better here, now temperature is above 0°C and we have less wind. Apparently this week end will be even better, with sun and more than 10°C!

From the MCR we observed a machine study session, the aim was to be abble to double injcted intensity from Booster to Main Injector. The process is interesting (inject once, slow down beam and re-inject in the same buckets, re-capture the whole new bunches...), and has an efficiency around 90%. Now optimizations are on-going.

We also learned the full process of anti-protons production, storage and injection into the tevatron.

One could conclude it was a very inteesting day.
